Alex Y. Ding (she/they) is an organizer, filmmaker, producer, and writer based in Chicago. They are a 2019 NeXtDoc Fellow and an anti-prison organizer for a collective in Illinois.

Alex has produced videos for movement groups and people across Chicago and the country, including Chicago Community Bond Fund, National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, Dissenters, Chicago Community Trust, and more.

Her freelance video work has appeared in Chicago ReaderThe TRiiBEFree Spirit Media, and more. She was an Associate Producer at Siskel/Jacobs Productions and Kindling Group.

Prior to that, Alex served on the steering committees of the National Prison Divestment Campaign, Student Action, and #CareNotCops, and has organized in Chicago around racial, immigrant, and economic justice for five years.

Their writing on labor, politics, and policing has has appeared in WBEZ, City Bureau, Chicago Defender, In These Times, The Huffington Post, and more.

Alex received a B.A. in Race and Ethnic Studies and Anthropology from the University of Chicago.
